How it all began – for me
She was, but only in the room which I most times conveniently forget about as even existing, under piles and piles of mass clutter which only a three year old could have gotten around and into. Don’t worry we did find her and no, we didn’t have to pull the whole thing apart to do so. We just had another extremely curious – this time five year old – child on our hands. It was Christmas at my place that year so there was no shortage of short small, curious, underage children present. Luckily we were within range of the room to hear the five year old scold the three year old telling her that she shouldn’t have come in here, it was an extremely punishable offense! This from the same toddler who had gone in there himself to investigate! The long and short of it though was that I learned from that experience and never kept that room unlocked again! After all if a three-year old and five-year old could wind their way through the mess, what else could be lurking in there? Naturally, I firmly closed my mind to the possibility that there could already be something firmly ensconced inside already, and breeding happily away! It wasn’t until a few years ago despite many attempts on my part to get myself organized and my home decluttered, that I finally managed to accomplish the impossible. So what was my secret? Had I found out some ancient method of decluttering which the Egyptians /Mayans /Incas /Romans /Indians Chinese had discovered and perfected for themselves? Had I found the perfect declutter book which helped me overcome my mess? Or had I finally succumbed and hired myself a cleaning service which came in thrice a week and decluttered my life? Although all of those options are intriguing ones (and yes, I had given some serous thought to a cleaning service!), they were simply not the ones which I employed to help me sort out my home and ultimately, my life. |
